Today we interviewed a scary dude who simply wants to be left alone. Mike Lester talks about his latest short story titled, Not This Time, which is featured in the latest Sekhmet Press anthology Wrapped in Black.
If you received the chance to produce this short story into a movie, who would be your dream cast and why? Please provide me pictures.
I would hope this never happens, however, if it did I suppose I would be more concerned with who was making the damned thing. There was a film that came and went a few years back called The Reflecting Skin. I liked the look of that one, and was actually thinking of it when I wrote my story. As for the cast, well, I prefer unknowns. Chloe Sevigny in Zodiac looks good for the part of the older cousin. I picture the setting to be the 1970s, so I would hope the characters would be able to pull that look off.
Have you considered your main character landing his/her novella or novel one day?
This is something I haven’t thought about.

What is the “must have” or “must do” before you sit down to write?
Finding the right music, the right chair, the right beverage. These are musts.
How do you relax?
Medication.
If you had a chance to live off the grid – would you do it?
Unhesitatingly. I just want to be left alone.

What is the best killing scene you have ever written?
Bludgeoning via Dodgers souvenir baseball bat from An Occasional Dream. That one felt pretty good.
